XMAS 2016 AT THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB

XMAS 2016  AT THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB

Monday December 19th was the night of the Xmas party and our entertainer for the evening was the very popular John Romero. The club venue is shared by other organisations such as the local Disability Group and as a result the hall was very nicely prepared with Xmas decorations, adding to a very pleasant atmosphere. John arrived early giving himself adequate time to set up his equipment and he was followed by the delicous buffet being delivered ready for the evening festivities.  The Xmas spirit certainly was in  the air as the members began to arrive bearing gifts for the raffle which consisted of a number of bottles of wine, Xmas cakes, a choice of boxes of biscuits, cuddly toys etc. this was really an excellent display of quality prizes. Many thanks to everyone who donated them.  This was followed by members who arrived carrying a selection of home baked pastries and wearing their party hats. Member Ursula Parkes demonstrated yet another sample of her baking skills by offering a Xmas cake for auction, it raised £20 which will be donated to our favourite children’s charity, Starlight.  Variety in the entertainment was provided by members Annette and Jim Hines playing a selection of carols followed by a hilarious version of “The Twelve Days of Xmas” with every one joining in.  John gave a very interesting and detailed explanation of the equipment he was using with demos before beginning his programme. He played a pleasant selection starting with Bel Viso and drifting into relaxing tunes. A superb selection of Glen Miller favourites was followed by a good old Cockney sing along  to round the evening off. The buffet was more than adequate, the entertainment supplied by John, Annette and Jim was excellent and the lucky raffle winners were very pleased with the value and quality of their prizes. This was a very pleasing finale for the end of the year.
