THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB …2017 | The Black Country Accordion Club

Monday 27th. February

TRACEY MIDDLETON and DAVID GARWOOD, known as AMERYLLIS were our guest artists for this meeting. They are well established in the entertainment world performing wherever music is needed, dances, festivals, weddings etc. We experienced a pleasant evening with a selection of popular tunes including Petite Fleur, Those were the Days and numbers from The Shadows. Recent club member Paul Hobbs was invited to take the stage to open the proceedings. We look forward to a return visit of Tracey and David.

Monday 27th. March

Our quest for variety produced a most entertaining act which was known as THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS DUO. Dawn Loombe and Amanda Hall, playing accordion and guitar respectively. Dawn and Amanda’s tributes to Eartha Kit, Edith Piaf and Cole Porter were really appreciated by everyone. Their whole programme  contained popular tunes and leaned towards a continental blend. A very pleasing show.

Monday 24th. April

This was a very special night for the club as we celebrated the 100th. guest night with a grand buffet, an accordionist and a Black Country comedian. Sammy Peckover was the accordionist and Ron Popple the funnyman and comedy magician. Sammy is an accomplished teacher of the accordion and played a lovely selection of tunes which included Polkas, singalongs and finished with Autumn Leaves which is everyone’s favourite. Ron Popple raised just as much laughter with his humour as he did with his comedy magical tricks. Club member John Shelley was invited to take to the stage to play a small selection of tunes.
