THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB
MONDAY OCTOBER 23RD. THE HALESOWEN BRASS BAND
This was the annual visit of the local Brass Band to our club. Musical Director, Gary Bell is a very popular figure in the area and the band has a number of loyal followers. Gary has visited us with the band many times before and always receives a very warm welcome from our members. The hall very quickly filled with members, visitors and the band and everyone settled down for an evening of fun and music. Gary is an accomplished comedian and his comments and quips were very amusing and soon had everyone smiling and applauding both his jokes and the music. The first half of the performance consisted of a varied selection of tunes but the highlight was the band’s version of the famous Bohemian Rhapsody. We had rather a long interval with the refreshments and raffle taking longer than usual. Gary then had another chat with everyone, outlining the programme for the remainder of the evening with a change of mood which was very well received. He began with ‘All that Jazz’, ‘Watching the Girls go by’ before breaking into song with ‘Unforgettable’ which was a pleasant surprise for us. The grand Finale was a selection from the proms rounding off with ‘Land of Hope and Glory’. We all agreed that we had really enjoyed the concert, well done Gary. We shall windup 2017 with a flourish in style with our annual fish and chips supper which always goes down very well. Alan Young will help us digest the evening. A visit by Harry Hussey, disguised as Father Xmas will round of the year at our Xmas Party.
2018 will begin with a flourish at the club’s BIRTHDAY PARTY. International artists, London’s most popular entertainers, THE HAYWOOD SISTERS will be singing for us on our grand FORTIES NIGHT. Refreshments and buffet provided.
