THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION & MUSIC CLUB

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS were the theme of this meeting and a lavish display of delicious tempting delicacies were waiting to tease the palettes of everyone involved. A good turnout of members and visitors was anticipated and we were not disappointed. The room filled very quickly in anticipation of a great party. The attraction, as well as the buffet, was the very special guest artist who turned out to be the world famous organ, piano and keyboard artist, renowned for her success on the TV show. BGT, non other than JEAN MARTYN. I saw Jean on TV and when Barry said that he had booked her for the club birthday celebrations I thought that we would have a problem coping with Jean’s multitude of followers as she is such a superb musician. So, once again we celebrate another successful year at the club with membership numbers on the increase. The Xmas party was a success with a grand buffet so we decided to begin the new year in the same manner as we ended 2015. The ulterior motive for the parties, food and entertainment was to show all the members and supporters just how much they are appreciated. They have been amazing with their donations and raffle prizes over the past year. All the seats in the hall were taken up very quickly and we were pleased to have a full house once again. Jean Martyn made her debut dressed in a sparkling outfit along with a huge keyboard and all the necessary bits and pieces to produce a sparkling show. She is a bubbly, amusing powerhouse of fun and laughter and a brilliant musician. Jean played a varied selection of tunes which catered for the taste of every individual. The interval arrived too quickly and everyone enjoyed the buffet. After the raffle the annual awards were made to Colin Penny, most improved novice player and Janice Deville, most improved player. The second half of the show was even more entertaining with a superb selection of music from Les Miserables . The evening ended with a chorus of ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ with the entire audience in full song. 2016 has begun with a super party and a very happy bunch of members.
