BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS at THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION at THE BLACK COUNTRY ACCORDION CLUB

Monday January 22nd is the club’s special night as we celebrate the New Year and the birth of the club all those years ago. This occasion is also the special occasion when the club’s annual awards are made for the most improved novice and most improved player of the year.

The attraction for the evening is the entertainment being provided by a trio of gorgeous ladies of international fame, The HAYWOOD SISTERS.  This retro trio resemble the famous Andrews Sisters in many ways, especially with their harmonious singing. The turnout for the evening was just as we anticipated as there was not a spare seat in the hall. The theme for the evening was a 40’s night and there was quite a display of period dress. The Haywood girls opened the concert with a selection of songs made famous by the Andrews Sisters and this really set the mood for the rest of the show. A long interval was planned as we had the buffet, raffle and the awards to squeeze in. The trio began with a selection of tunes made famous by the Andrews Sisters. Vicky, the daughter of the late Reg Philips, founder member of the club, presented the most improved player award to George Worrel and the most improved novice award was awarded to Mike Meldon. The HAYWOOD Sisters completed their programme with a rousing selection of wartime favourites. Many thanks to all for the superb raffle prizes and donations.
